Welcome!
My name is Maura, and I am a Catholic wife, mom, and former librarian. Our lives are saturated with information - everyone is trying to grab our attention, and it can be hard to find what we want and need to engage with. As a voracious reader, dedicated researcher, and protective mom, my mission is to share books and articles that point you to what Bishop Barron calls the via pulchritudinis, the way of beauty.

I post each Wednesday - sharing book reviews, musings on faith, and deep dives into issues that I believe I am well poised to discuss, such as “banned books.” My longer essays are published behind the paywall once a month, but the rest of my content is free for three weeks after publication.

Paid subscriptions are an incredible blessing to my small family, but I certainly can’t pay every writer I love here. Please reach out if you’re in a similar situation - I’d love to trade!
In case you missed them…
Just a couple of my favorites!
Am I Not Here?
Today marks 11 months without my mom. I’m not ready to write about grief just yet, but the Blessed Mother disregards this.
What Type of Cry Room Parent Are You?
This past Sunday at Mass, I went to nurse my son in the cry room at our parish and it was so full that I rushed back to our pew to feed him before he got too upset. Fortunately, our pastor was still preaching the homily, and so a little noise didn’t seem quite so disruptive in our middle pew.
Establishing a Book Rating System
Welcome to The Catholic Librarian! Utilizing my experience as a reader and curator of books, my aim is to help others find reads that lead them to the true, the good and the beautiful.
Thank you for being here. I’m praying for you!
